Things were not looking good for the nation of Israel. For years, the kings had been disobeying God and doing as they pleased. Many worshipped gods of wood and stone, even sacrificing humans to their honor. Then King Ahab came to power, and he married Jezebel, the daughter of King Ethbaal from the pagan city of Tyre. Those were dark days! Like his father, King Ahab was a wicked man and cared little for the subjects in his kingdom.
