The story of the great banquet is another one of Jesus’ parables. The people who listened to Jesus liked His parables because these stories gave lessons that helped them deal with the problems of everyday life. And they always had a spiritual message. “A certain man gave a great supper and invited many,” Jesus said. “At the time of the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’”
