Everyone in the land of Canaan had heard about Israel. The kings east of the Jordan could not stand up against Joshua and his army. Jericho’s walls had toppled before their marching armies, and the fortress of Ai had been totally destroyed by them. Everyone was terrified of the Hebrews, and no one knew what to do.
