Everyone was excited when they heard about Peter and John healing the crippled man at the temple gate, but Peter told them they should not be surprised. The man had been healed through the power of Jesus, whom the chief priests and elders had killed. This made the priests and Sadducees very angry. “Arrest those men!” they ordered, and since it was already evening, the temple guards locked them up until the next day.
