Hadassah was an orphan child in a nation of Jews who had been living in Babylon and Persia since the days of Daniel. At an early age, she lost her parents and came to live with her cousin Mordecai in the royal city of Shushan. He became a father to her and taught her to love Jehovah, the one true God.
