What a terrible day this was turning out to be! Jesus was on the hill of Golgotha about to be crucified. Crucifixion was the cruelest death known to man. Already that morning He had been interrogated at least three times by the priests and scribes, and another three times by the Romans. He had been severely beaten and then scourged, and finally a crown of sharp thorns had been jammed on His head.
