Paul stayed in the Roman prison for many months, and his friends were given freedom to come and go as they pleased. However, the Jews were still anxious to have Paul convicted, and they hoped to get some help from Nero’s second wife, who was also a Jew. Things did not look good for Paul now, and he realized that he could expect very little mercy from Emperor Nero. Nero was becoming more evil as the years passed.
