The worst night of Jesus’ life on earth had come. The temple guards dragged Him from the garden tied up like a common criminal. Now and then one of the guards would slap Him or kick Him, and if He tripped and fell, they yanked Him to His feet again along the rough stony pathway. Down the road from the garden they led Him, through the Kidron Valley and in through the gates to the city.
