King Saul was always fighting the Philistines, it seemed. They were a constant threat to the kingdom of Israel. Just as soon as he would stop them from raiding in the north, he had to drive them back to the sea in the south. He would come home exhausted from his days of battle. But no sooner had he rested than he was heading off again to hunt David down.
