Nine plagues of Egypt had come and gone—blood and frogs, gnats and flies, disease and hailstorms, grasshoppers and darkness. Egypt was in ruins, and still Pharaoh refused to let Israel go. He was a stubborn man. Even after seeing the devastation God had brought to the land of Egypt, he hardened his heart against the Lord of heaven.
