David knew he couldn’t stay near the royal fortress of Gibeah any longer. It just wasn’t safe, and so off he ran to Nob where the priests of the sanctuary tabernacle lived. “What are you doing here alone?” the high priest Ahimelech asked him. “Why is no one with you?” David didn’t tell Ahimelech the real reason why he had come. He told a lie, and what a tragedy unfolded because of it!
