Jesus knew that hard times were coming for His disciples. He knew that after He died, arose again from the dead, and went back to heaven, the church would suffer persecution from Satan. The enemies of Jesus and the church would try to destroy the Christians and all that they would do for God. The nation of Israel was in trouble too. The Jews were rejecting Jesus as the Savior of the world, and they would persecute the Christians, putting many to death. Because of this, God would soon reject them as His chosen people.
