People came to Jesus every day hoping to be healed. Blind people came and the deaf. People who were lame, paralyzed, or demon possessed knew that Jesus was their only hope. However, of all the diseases in Jesus’ day, leprosy was the most dreaded. There was no cure for leprosy, and the way it disfigured a person was horrible! First, it infected parts of the body, such as the fingers, toes, and nose. Then the leprosy would eat away the hands and feet until the person became crippled.
