Following the capture of the pope in the late 1700s, real changes came in Europe and other countries in which Christianity could be found. The control that the church had over the people was now broken. The gospel began to go to the world such as it hadn’t done since the days of the early church that was started by Jesus and the disciples. It seemed that the energy of God’s Spirit was inspiring people to take the gospel to the world
