It was the Sabbath day, and Jesus was visiting at the synagogue in Capernaum again. It is what He usually did when He was in town. He had been coming to Capernaum so often lately that people were beginning to call it “Jesus’ own city.” The small town of 1,500 people was located on the Sea of Galilee. There was a Roman military fort there and a taxing booth, so it must have been a pretty important town in Galilee.
