Of all Jacob’s sons, Joseph was his favorite. His being Jacob’s favorite did not make him very popular with his ten older brothers. Jacob’s own childhood experiences should have taught him that having a favorite child wasn’t wise. He had always been his mother’s favorite, while Esau had been Isaac’s favorite.
