God blessed Jacob! In addition to his twelve children, he was getting richer every day because his flocks and herds of animals were doing so well. However, things were not going well with Laban, his father-in-law. Laban knew his flocks and herds were being blessed because Jacob was in charge of them. When Jacob asked to go home to his family in Canaan, Laban tried to get him to stay longer in Haran.
