Jesus was always being invited to eat at someone’s house. Rich people knew it was a popular thing to have Him in their home. Religious leaders wanted to find out who He was. Then there were those who were grateful for what He had done for them. Simon the Pharisee was just such a person. Simon had been a very important man in Israel, but before he met Jesus, he was not a very nice person.
