Jesus traveled through the city of Jericho from time to time with His disciples on His trips from Galilee and the towns across the Jordan. The city of Jericho had a warm climate, with palm trees and gardens fed by many springs of water. It was a tourist town and drew all kinds of people for parties, gambling, and entertainment. King Herod himself may have had a winter palace there, to which he came on holidays.
