Saul of Tarsus was becoming a champion for the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem. He had been the lawyer to stand up at Stephen’s trial and convince everyone that Stephen was a blasphemer. He had even watched Stephen being stoned. But Stephen’s execution troubled him afterward, and he wondered if they were right in treating Christians that way. Finally, he went to talk about it to the chief priests, but they convinced him that Stephen was indeed a blasphemer of God and that he deserved to be stoned for it
